Greg Gorman


Greg Gorman was born in 1949 in Kansas City, Missouri, and he currently resides in Las Angeles. Gorman began photographing when he attended college for photojournalism from 1967 to 1969. He photographs many different types of photos, for example black and white photos, portraits, and nude photos. He prefers to shoot celebrities, motion pictures, and music personalities rather than still life. Gorman has currently photographed for Reebok, Maybelline, Kawasaki, and Fortune Magazine. He has also published his own book

Gorman's photography is also seen in worldwide publications such as GQ, L'Uomo Vogue, Vogue Homme, Italian Vanity Fair, The New York Times, The London Times, Photo, Tatler, British GQ, Time, Detour, Rolling Stone and many more. Gorman was influenced by American photographer Richard Avedon, European fashion photographers Guy Bourdin and Peter Lindbergh, and also Helmut Newton. Many photographers also shoot photos like Gorman's.
Some examples are Annie Leibovitz and Mark Seliger. Greg Gorman has also shot photographs for movie posters such as "Dances with Wolves," "Terminator 2," "Total Recall," "Field of Dreams," "Moonstruck," "The Big Chill," and "Last of the Mohicans." He also took photos for music videos and television advertisements. He currently has directed the music video "Love on Top of Love" for Grace Jones. A Critical overview on Greg Gorman’s work was criticized by director John Waiters. He stated that Gorman makes people feel happy by not just being photographed but by them being famous. Another Critical overview was done by filmmaker John Waters. He stated that Greg Gorman is the only person he would let photograph his corpse’. Gorman's photos have been seen worldwide, through many big company magazines, movies, and posters. With that, Gorman has proved that he is an amazing photographer for his many celebrity, portraits, and nude photos. He has put a lot of hard work into his work and it shows in his photographs.
