There are many differences between the book and movie of “Frankenstein.” Personally I believe the book is much better than the movie. In the beginning of the book, when Frankenstein created the monster, and it came alive… he ran. But in the movie the monster was hanged by chains. Also in the movie, Frankenstein's monster throws the little girl in the water after the two of them toss in flower petals, and he realizes that his action was wrong. In the book, he saves a young woman from drowning only to have her screaming bloody murder when she sees his face.
Another great example of a big difference is creating another monster. In the book, Frankenstein never created a female monster for the creature. As the movie shows, the creature had asked Frankenstein to create a female like himself to love. As asked, Frankenstein did make a female monster. That is a great difference between the book and movie. There is another great example between the book and the movie. In the movie, the monster rips out Elizabeth's still-beating heart, and Frankenstein rushes her body up to his laboratory where he chops off her head, attaches it to Justine's body, and brings her back to life. She was grotesque, but her good eye horrified me out more than the swollen, stitched-up one. Frankenstein begins to dance with her, compelling her to say his name. Then the fiend walks in, and he and Frankenstein begin fighting over her. Upset and confused, Elizabeth/Justine lights herself on fire and runs down the hall. Then on Walton's boat, the fiend takes Frankenstein’s body away on a piece of ice and burns it.
A really big difference between the book and the movie was the education of the Monster. They both focus around the Monster’s time spent watching the De Laceys. In the movie his time was spent mostly to just watching the family and how they acted towards each other. He learned quickly how to speak and read and learned to understand the different emotions people had. The only weird thing of the Monster’s rapid learning process is that in a movie not a great deal of time can be spent on this or else the movie would drag on. Although not a lot of time was spent on showing the development of the Monster’s education in the movie, the book went into great detail in describing its education.
When making a film of a book, it is sometimes necessary to change certain parts of it. But it is also important to leave some things and parts the same. In the book and movie of Frankenstein, changing the education of the Monster and the ending of the story showed the differences between the book and movie
